Modern Farming to Traditional Farming

In Bhagalpur, people are now shifting towards traditional farming from modern farming practices. Gunjesh Gunjan, who has been associated with agriculture for 15 years, surprised everyone by growing a new variety of cauliflower. Apart from the usual crops like maize, wheat, rice, and vegetables, Bihar is now also witnessing the cultivation of fruits like mosambi, orange, strawberry, and dragon fruits. Gunjan successfully grew a new type of cauliflower with a different weight and length than regular cauliflower.

New Varieties of Cauliflower

Gunjan cultivated purple and yellow varieties of cauliflower, which caught the attention of locals. He mentioned that they experiment with new types of crops every year. He came across this new cauliflower variety while watching a reel on his mobile and decided to order its seeds online. The seeds were not locally available, but he managed to grow them successfully in a small area, producing cauliflowers weighing around 3 kilograms each, which sold for a higher price in the market due to their nutritional value and unique appearance.

Special Prices and Benefits

The seeds for this unique cauliflower variety cost Rs 8000 per kilogram. Gunjan conducted a trial and planted the seeds on a small piece of land, resulting in a good yield. Each cauliflower weighed 3 kilograms and had a length and width of around 1 foot. While regular cauliflowers sell for Rs 10 each, this new variety fetches around Rs 50 per piece in the market. Despite requiring some effort to grow, farmers can earn a good profit from cultivating this variety, as it is not only nutritious but also beneficial for health.
