The President of the Patwa Society, Navratan Prasad, acknowledges that both giving and taking dowry are considered sins in their community. The tradition of dowry-free marriages has been practiced for centuries and continues to be followed, with marriages taking place within the village and disparities between rich and poor being eliminated.
