Development of Maanpur Village in Gaya, Bihar

Maanpur village, located in Gaya district of Bihar, is known as the Manchester of Bihar. Umeshwari Devi, a resident of Patwa Toli village, proudly shares that all five of her daughters got married into good families within the village without any dowry exchange. Despite coming from a poor background, her daughters are leading fulfilled lives in prosperous households. The President of the Patwa Society, Navratan Prasad, acknowledges that both giving and taking dowry are considered sins in their community. The tradition of dowry-free marriages has been practiced for centuries and continues to be followed, with marriages taking place within the village and disparities between rich and poor being eliminated.
