Upon reaching there, he sent an ‘urgent help’ message to his wife on WhatsApp and then switched off his mobile phone. This led to chaos in the family, and the entire family rushed to Farbisganj, informing the police there about the situation.
**Allegations of Extortion**
The Farbisganj police chief, Raghavendra Kumar Singh, stated that Hemant’s father had informed them about the alleged kidnapping, claiming that his son had 30 lakh rupees with him. However, upon investigation, it was revealed that Hemant had left for Siliguri due to a disagreement with his father. The police had requested a written application from the father, but he did not provide any such information.
**Police Inquiry and Confusion**
When questioned about his alleged kidnapping, Hemant Kumar Gupta claimed that he had consumed alcohol upon reaching Farbisganj, which led to him feeling intoxicated. He stated that he was on a bus to Begusarai when he regained consciousness. The police are now planning to question both the father and the son to get to the bottom of the situation and clarify the confusion surrounding the incident.
