Voting Begins in Jharkhand

In the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, voting is taking place in Singhbhum, Khunti, Lohardaga, and Palamu seats in Jharkhand. Voting started at 7 am with Central Minister Arjun Munda and current MP Geeta Koda present along with a total of 45 candidates in the field.

Seat Details and Competition

Jharkhand has a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats, all of which are reserved. The seats being contested today are reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. There is a direct competition between Indian Alliance supported candidates and BJP candidates in these seats, with a triangular contest also emerging in Lohardaga.

Incidents of Violence

Reports of clashes between RJD and BJP workers in Ramabandh village of Husseinabad assembly constituency under Palamu parliamentary seat have been captured on CCTV cameras. The situation is being closely monitored.

Celebrity Voting

Chief Minister Hemant Soren cast his vote at a polling center in Jilingdoa with his family. Central Minister Arjun Munda and his wife also exercised their franchise at a polling booth in Kharsawan. Post-voting, Munda displayed the indelible ink on his finger to show his participation in the democratic process.
