In the upcoming elections, former Congress candidate Pravesh Mishra is now contesting as an independent, while Dinesh Agrawal, who was previously associated with the BJP, has also entered the fray as an independent candidate. Additionally, two-time independent MP from Assam, Gana Suraksha Party’s Nav Kumar Sarnia, is challenging the political landscape in Valmiki Nagar this time, adding to the complexity of the electoral scenario.
Valmiki Nagar’s Unique Demographics
Valmiki Nagar, situated on the India-Nepal border, has been a stronghold of the NDA. With a significant Tharu Adivasi population, the constituency has historically been influenced by caste dynamics. The constituency’s demographics, including a sizable Muslim population, Dalits, Vaishyas, Tharu-Uranv, Yadavs, Brahmins, Kushwaha Kurmis, Nonia-Bin Mallah, and Rajput-Bhumihar communities, play a crucial role in determining the electoral outcome.
बेतिया जिले की प्रमुख चुनावी सीट वाल्मीकिनगर लोकसभा क्षेत्र में चुनावी चुनौती काफी गरमा रही है। यहां के सांसद सुनील कुमार की ओर से जदयू के प्रत्याशी के बीच टक्कर चल रही है, जबकि राजद ने अपने प्रत्याशी के रूप में दीपक यादव को चुना है। इसके अलावा निर्दलीय चुनाव में भी कई उम्मीदवार मैदान में हैं। जातीय समीकरण के दृष्टिकोण से भी यह सीट महत्वपूर्ण है, जिसमें थारू, मुस्लिम, दलित-महादलित, वैश्य, यादव, ब्राह्मण, राजपूत-भूमिहार आदि समुदायों के वोटर हैं। इस सीट पर अब तक बीजेपी और जदयू ने विजय हासिल की है, जो इस बार किसके हित में होगी, यह चुनाव का मुख्य विषय है।
