Current Situation of Sugarcane Crop in Bihar
Agricultural scientist Satish Chandra Narayan, working at the Agricultural Science Center in Madhopur, states that the winter and spring sugarcane crops in Bihar are currently in a growth phase in the month of May. However, he warns that the prevalence of pests on the crops may increase during this phase. In particular, the incidence of termites is higher in areas with light soil and inadequate irrigation facilities.
Risk of Pest Infestation
Narayan emphasizes that the threat of pest infestation is significant during the current growth phase of sugarcane crops in Bihar. Farmers need to be vigilant and take preventive measures to protect their crops from pests, especially termites. Areas with poor soil quality and insufficient irrigation are at a higher risk of pest infestation, which can potentially damage the crops and reduce the yield.
Importance of Pest Control
It is crucial for farmers in Bihar to prioritize pest control measures to safeguard the winter and spring sugarcane crops from potential infestations. By implementing effective pest management strategies and ensuring proper irrigation, farmers can protect their crops and optimize their yield. Narayan’s insights highlight the importance of proactive pest control practices in ensuring the success of sugarcane cultivation in Bihar.
