Attempt to Poison Children
In the Kashi Vadi ward number 8 of Jokihat block in Araria district, a husband tried to kill his four children by giving them pesticide after they protested against his extramarital affair. Two of the children managed to escape after seeing their father giving them the pesticide. The family rushed both children to Sadar Hospital in Araria, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Fortunately, the children are said to be out of danger at the moment.
Extramarital Affair and Violence
The mother of the children, Mahmuda Khatoon, revealed that her husband Manjur had been involved in an extramarital affair with a woman from their village for the past 6 months. The couple has six children together. When Mahmuda tried to reason with her husband about the affair, he became angry and started physically assaulting her on Friday evening. Fearing for her safety, she fled to a neighbor’s house to seek refuge.
Attempted Poisoning Incident
Upon returning home after two hours, Mahmuda discovered that her daughters Heena Praveen (24) and Sirat (8) had been given pesticide by their father. Both girls were found unconscious on the ground. Local residents helped rush the girls to Sadar Hospital in Araria for medical treatment. An application will be filed against the accused husband once the necessary paperwork is completed, and further action will be taken accordingly.
Police Response
The Station House Officer, Rajiv Kumar Jha, mentioned that they have not received any such applications related to this incident yet. Once the application is filed, the police will proceed with the necessary investigation and legal actions. The authorities are taking the matter seriously and will ensure that justice is served in this case of attempted poisoning and domestic violence.
