Samuel Dhoraray: A Source of Inspiration for Youth

In the remote village of Meromagutu in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, Samuel Dhoraray resides and has become a source of inspiration for local youth. For the past 40 years, Samuel has been engaged in beekeeping, which is also a source of income for him.

Beekeeping in Remote Areas

Living far away from the city, Samuel’s beekeeping activities are well known in the region. The demand for his honey extends not only to Jharkhand but also to Odisha and West Bengal. People come to buy his honey, highlighting the success of his venture.

Support from Family

Samuel’s wife, Fulmani, also actively supports him in his beekeeping venture. Samuel has set up around 38 wooden boxes on his small plot of land for honey extraction, with the entire process taking about 15 days to complete.

Variety of Flavors

Samuel shared that depending on the season, bees gather nectar from different flowers to produce honey with various flavors. Currently, honey is being extracted from kusum and karanj flowers, with jamun honey being harvested during the monsoon. The family earns a substantial income by selling honey throughout the year.
