Weather Alert in 6 States and 2 Union Territories

The weather department issued a heatwave alert on Saturday for six states and two union territories including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Additionally, a deep depression cyclonic storm may hit the West Bengal and Bangladesh coast on Sunday night.

Heatwave Continues in North India

Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and parts of Madhya Pradesh are expected to continue experiencing the impact of heat even during the night. Relief from the severe heatwave is not expected for the next seven days, with temperatures in some places expected to exceed 45 degrees Celsius.

Extreme Heatwave in Rajasthan

The town of Phalodi in Rajasthan recorded a maximum temperature of 50 degrees Celsius on Saturday, making it the hottest place in the country. Other cities in Rajasthan also experienced scorching temperatures, with no relief expected until the end of May.

Forecast for West Bengal and Odisha

A deep depression cyclonic storm may form over the Bay of Bengal, affecting West Bengal and Odisha. Strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected in these regions, with the possibility of flooding. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, and authorities have issued red alerts in coastal districts. Additionally, heavy rain is forecasted in Tripura, Kerala, and Telangana, causing damage to homes and roads.
