Incident in Khagaria District
In Khagaria district, a Scorpio vehicle driven by the headman hit two young men. One of the young men died on the spot, while the other was seriously injured and was taken to Mayaganj Hospital in Bhagalpur for treatment. The incident took place on Monday night, causing panic in the area and attracting a crowd of onlookers. The police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving information and began investigating the matter.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, Mohammad Shahabuddin, a 35-year-old resident of Kutubpur in the rural police station area, was returning home in an e-rickshaw with his associate Mohammad Salim when a speeding Scorpio hit their vehicle near Dhusmuri Bishanpur Raman Brick Kiln. Shahabuddin died on the spot, while Salim was injured.
Driver Under the Influence of Alcohol
Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that the Scorpio driver was speeding under the influence of alcohol, which led to the collision with the e-rickshaw. It is said that the Scorpio belongs to Yashpal Kumar alias Vikas Kumar, the headman of the Baraiya Ghat Panchayat in the Alauli police station area. Witnesses mentioned that at the time of the incident, the headman, along with his driver and two to three others, was present in the Scorpio.
Legal Action Taken
After the incident, the headman and his associates fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. However, the police have seized the Scorpio. The local police station chief confirmed that the Scorpio was confiscated, and a post-mortem of the deceased has been conducted. Legal action is being taken based on the complaint filed by the relatives, and further investigation is ongoing.
