The memories associated with the Four Star Cinema Hall, including those of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, are now a thing of the past.

The Legacy of Four Star Cinema Hall

Constructed 40 years ago, the 70mm screen of the Four Star Cinema Hall was a symbol of pride for Purnia. It was once considered the biggest cinema hall in North Bihar, attracting movie enthusiasts from far and wide. However, the closure of the cinema hall in recent years has left a void in the hearts of the people. The swift demolition of the iconic building has saddened the community who cherished its cultural significance.

The End of an Era

The construction of Four Star Cinema Hall was overseen by Dr. Mohan Rai, a renowned doctor from Purnia. The hall gained fame when Dr. Rai saved the life of Amitabh Bachchan during a film shoot accident in America. Bachchan, in gratitude, inaugurated the cinema hall with a free screening of his movie “Sharaabi”. After Dr. Rai’s passing, the cinema hall and its land were sold, marking the end of an era in Purnia. The demolition of Four Star Cinema Hall has brought a sense of loss to the community, as they witness the transformation of their heritage into a new chapter.
