Extreme Heatwave in Jharkhand

The temperature in Palamu, Jharkhand, has been recorded at 47.4 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day. In addition, the temperature in 16 districts remained above 40 degrees Celsius. Due to the intense heat in the past 24 hours, 15 people have died, with 9 in Jamshedpur, 4 in Palamu, and 1 in Giridih-Bokaro.

Yellow Alert for Rain and Wind in Multiple Districts

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and wind in several districts of Jharkhand, including Pakur, Giridih, Dumka, Devghar, Godda, Jamtara, Sahibganj, Saraikela Kharsawan, Bokaro, Ramgarh, and Dhanbad. Devghar experienced heavy rain in the morning, with a likelihood of rain and wind in the northeastern and southern parts of the state on June 1.

Palamu and Garhwa have recorded temperatures exceeding 47 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day. The highest temperature in DaltonGanj was 47.5 degrees Celsius, while Chaibasa recorded the lowest temperature at 28.2 degrees Celsius. The weather forecast indicates a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds in the state.

Impact and Forecast

Amidst the extreme heat, several deaths have been reported in different parts of Jharkhand due to sunstroke. The weather department has issued a heatwave alert for certain areas, while a slight decrease in temperatures is expected in some regions from May 31 to June 2. The weather is expected to change, bringing some relief from the scorching heat in the coming days.
