High number of bat deaths in Jharkhand

In the districts of Garhwa and Latehar in Jharkhand, a large number of bats are dying. This is not the first time, as earlier hundreds of bats were found dead in Garhwa, Hazaribagh, and Ranchi. The reason behind these bat deaths is still unknown, and a recent incident in Latehar district has raised concerns.

Immediate action taken by authorities

Local residents in Manika block of Koili village in Latehar district found a large number of dead bats under a tree, sparking panic in the area. The forest department has issued an appeal to refrain from touching or coming in contact with the dead bats, as it could be dangerous. The District Forest Officer has alerted the departmental staff and urged the public to avoid handling the dead bats.

Investigation and precautions

The dead bats are being sent for sampling and testing to determine the cause of death. It is unclear whether the deaths are due to any infection or extreme heat. The District Forest Officer has advised people to inform the forest department in case of such incidents and avoid contact with dead animals. It is essential to take necessary precautions to prevent any potential risks.
