Election Results Declared
The Lok Sabha election results were announced late Tuesday evening. In Jharkhand’s Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat, the only transgender candidate received fewer votes than NOTA. However, she contested the election independently on this seat.
Counting and Outcomes
The Lok Sabha elections, held in seven phases across the country, saw a close contest between the BJP and Congress. The results were declared late in the evening. Sunaina Kinnar, a transgender candidate, contested independently from the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat. She competed fiercely against both national and regional party candidates.
Votes and Candidates
Sunaina received 3,462 votes in the results. Out of 7,354 voters on this seat, none of them chose NOTA. There were a total of 25 candidates contesting from the Dhanbad seat. Apart from Sunaina, 18 other candidates received fewer votes than NOTA. BJP’s Dulal Mahato defeated Congress’ Anupama Singh with over 3 lakh votes.
Transgender Candidate’s Response

She expressed gratitude to the people of Dhanbad for accepting her as a candidate. She vowed to continue working towards her mission of addressing issues like poverty, unemployment, inflation, and water scarcity for the benefit of the people.
