Failed attempts by MLAs in Lok Sabha elections
Several MLAs contesting in the Lok Sabha elections have been unsuccessful in increasing their lead on their respective Assembly seats. Candidates like Nishikant Dubey of BJP have taken a lead over the India Alliance candidate in their constituencies. Vinod Singh from Kodarma and JP Patel from Congress have also faced setbacks in Bagodar and Mandu respectively. Even rebel candidates like Lobin Hembrom and Chamra Linda have failed to secure the third position in their constituencies.
Defeat of prominent leaders
Prominent leaders like Arjun Munda and Geeta Koda have faced significant setbacks in their respective constituencies. Arjun Munda was defeated by a large margin in Kharsawan, a seat from which he was expected to win. Geeta Koda, a former Rajya Sabha MP, also faced defeat from Vishunpur, where she secured the second position. Such defeats have reshaped the political landscape in Jharkhand.
Winning seats but losing hold
Although AJSU managed to win the Giridih seat, MLA Lambodar Mahato lost his lead to Jairam Mahato in the sitting seat. Similarly, Chandraprakash Chaudhary of AJSU was pushed to the second position in the Dumka constituency. These results indicate a shift in power dynamics and voter preferences in the region.
NDA and India Alliance gains
During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand, NDA gained on 50 Assembly seats while the India Alliance secured a lead on 29 seats. The India Alliance also gained on five Adivasi reserved seats, namely Sarai Kela, Dumka, Jama, Ghatsila, and Potka. This demonstrates a significant shift in voter sentiment towards different political parties in the state.
