Suspicious Death of Newlywed Woman in Betiah
A newlywed woman has died in suspicious circumstances in Betiah. The family has accused the in-laws of strangling her to death for dowry. The incident took place in Deke Shikarpur village in the Shikarpur police station area of the district. The police arrived at the scene upon receiving the information and identified the body.
Accusations and Arrest
The deceased has been identified as Kanchan Devi, the 20-year-old wife of Paramanand Bhagat from Deke Shikarpur village. The police have registered an FIR based on a complaint by the father of the deceased and have arrested the accused husband for questioning. Other suspects will also be arrested soon.
Allegations of Dowry Harassment
The father of the deceased has accused her husband and in-laws of harassing her for dowry. The marriage took place on March 8, 2024, with Bhagirath Bhagat’s 22-year-old son Paramanand Bhagat. However, since the wedding, the in-laws had been harassing her for dowry and physically abusing her.
Tragic End
On Saturday night, the in-laws allegedly strangled Kanchan to death. Her husband claimed that they had an argument on Saturday evening, after which she committed suicide by hanging herself. However, she was rushed to the hospital by family members, where she was pronounced dead. The police have filed an FIR against the in-laws for dowry-related murder.
