Heatwave Alert in Bihar
Bihar residents are not going to get any relief from the heat. An alert has been issued for the districts of Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, as well as the southwestern districts of Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabhua, Aurangabad, Arwal, and the southeastern districts of Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, and Khagaria. The temperatures in these districts are expected to range from 42 to 44 degrees Celsius, prompting the issuance of an orange alert by the weather department.
Heatwave Conditions in Various Districts
The weather department predicts that hot winds with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour will affect the southwestern and south-central regions of Bihar. Additionally, warm nights are expected in the districts of Patna, Gaya, and Nalanda. Temperatures in 21 districts have ranged from 40 to 46 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, with Buxar recording the highest at 46.01 degrees Celsius and Motihari recording the lowest at 25.5 degrees Celsius.
Intense Heatwave in Bihar
During the past 24 hours, Bihar experienced dry weather conditions. The districts of Patna, Gaya, Gopalganj, Jamui, Nalanda, and Siwan experienced heatwave conditions, while Sheikhpura, Buxar, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Aurangabad, Banka, Nawada, and Arwal experienced extremely hot weather. The flow of northwesterly winds is expected to continue for the next 48 hours, leading to an increase in temperatures.
Extreme Heatwave in Bihar
Particularly severe heatwave conditions are expected to affect the Vaishali, Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Jamui, and Banka districts. It is advised to take precautions to avoid the heat. The average onset date of the monsoon in Bihar is between June 10 and 15, based on the monsoon’s arrival and activity in previous years. Several districts in Bihar have recorded temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius, with Kishanganj recording the lowest at 31.02 degrees Celsius.
