Murder of Rajiv Ranjan
In Motihari, Bihar, a youth was shot in the head by unknown criminals while riding a bike, resulting in his death on the spot. The police arrived at the scene after receiving information and took the body into custody for postmortem, initiating an investigation into the case. The incident took place near Hardiya in the Raghunathpur police station area. The deceased youth has been identified as Rajiv Ranjan (35), a resident of Majuraha New Kailash Nagar in the Raghunathpur police station area.
Details of the Incident
According to information, the deceased’s father, Vinod Patel, is a retired employee of the Irrigation Department. Rajiv Ranjan left home on a bike at three in the morning. At seven in the morning, he called his cousin to prepare food as they were coming. An hour later, the family received news that Rajiv had been shot. When they arrived at the scene, they found his lifeless body covered in blood. His friend, Pappu Singh, who was riding the bike with him, was detained by the villagers. Rajiv’s father accused Pappu Singh of being involved in his son’s murder.
Sequence of Events
It is reported that as Rajiv was riding his bike, a car slowed down in front of him. Three criminals on a bike approached him from behind and shot him in the head at close range. Rajiv succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Investigation and Arrest
SP Kanthesh Mishra informed that the police team was sent to the scene as soon as the incident was reported. The body was taken into custody for postmortem. The identification of the criminals is being done through CCTV footage from nearby cameras. The vehicle used in the murder has been identified. All the criminals will soon be arrested. A personal dispute involving the youth is emerging as the motive behind the murder.
