Heatwave in Bihar
The heatwave in Bihar continues with intense heat affecting people. The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for severe heat in Patna, Jehanabad, Arwal, Nalanda, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Kaimur, Sasaram, Aurangabad, Nawada, Gaya, Bhojpur, and Buxar. An orange alert has been issued in one to two places in the southeastern parts of the state for the possibility of a heatwave. Similarly, one to two places in the northwestern part of the state are likely to experience hot days. Thunderstorms with strong winds are also expected in one to two places in the northeastern parts of the state.
Weather Department’s Advisory
The Weather Department predicts temperatures of 42 to 44 degrees Celsius in Patna, Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabua, Aurangabad, and Arwal districts. Heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in most districts until June 14. After June 15-16, the weather is expected to intensify. The Weather Department advises people to take precautions to avoid heat stroke, especially by not leaving children or pets in cars and seeking medical help if feeling unwell or unconscious.
Temperature Fluctuations
In the past 24 hours, Motihari was the coolest city in the state with a minimum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius, while Buxar and Bhojpur recorded the highest temperature of 45.9 degrees Celsius. Several other districts in Bihar also experienced temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. The Weather Department reported light to moderate rainfall in one or two places in Kishanganj district, while the rest of the state remained dry. Most districts in South Bihar recorded temperatures four to six degrees Celsius above normal.
Weather Forecast
During the next three days, severe heatwaves are expected to continue in most districts of South Bihar. The Weather Department predicts hot days in the northwestern parts of the state for the next two days. There are no significant changes expected in the maximum temperatures of the state over the next three to four days. Dry westerly winds are prevailing in the lower cyclone region, leading to intense heatwaves in most districts of South Bihar.
