20,132 Farmers in Sitamarhi may Miss 17th Installment of PM Kisan Scheme

Approximately 20,132 farmers in Sitamarhi district may miss out on the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana as their bank accounts are not linked with eKYC and Aadhar. Additionally, their accounts are not linked with NPCI as well. The final week of June is expected to bring the payment under the scheme.

Need for Linking Bank Accounts with Aadhar and NPCI

Out of the 2,73,782 registered farmers in the district under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, 20,132 farmers have not completed eKYC verification. Furthermore, 11,988 farmers have not linked their Aadhar cards with bank accounts. It is essential for farmers to visit their respective bank branches to link their accounts with Aadhar and NPCI to receive the next installment of the scheme.

Importance of Linking Bank Accounts with NPCI

The government has developed a platform called National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) to facilitate secure transactions electronically. Farmers need to link their bank accounts with NPCI to avail benefits of government schemes. Those farmers whose accounts are not linked with NPCI can visit their bank branches to complete the linking process. Alternatively, they can open an account in India Post Payment Bank (Post Office) where the account will automatically be linked with NPCI.
