Allegations of Police Brutality in Gaya

Under the Jamuawa Panchayat in the Vajeerganj police station area of Gaya district, a case of beating and injuring laborers of a Mahadalit family and allegations against the police by the injured laborers were investigated under the directions of the district police superintendent and the case was dismissed.

Stone Pelting Incident

During the investigation, the Vajeerganj police station chief Sunil Kumar Pandey, while denying the allegations, stated that on 9/6/24, the patrol team of the Vajeerganj police station was passing through the Maneanee route. During this time, a tractor loaded with sand was seen approaching the police vehicle. The tractor was stopped and the driver was asked for the necessary documents related to the sand. However, the driver did not present any valid documents.

Attempt to Release Tractor

During this time, a local representative arrived with his brother and started creating a ruckus. A crowd gathered, and the angry mob tried to release the tractor by misbehaving with the police. When the police opposed, the mob attacked with stones and bricks. The information was immediately given to the patrol team, who then informed the Vajeerganj police station. The station chief, along with police forces, reached the scene and normalized the situation in a lawful manner.

Short of the Incident

The incident in Baratu Bigaha, Gaya, involving allegations of police brutality and subsequent stone-pelting by the mob, was thoroughly investigated and dismissed by the authorities. The police acted in accordance with the law to maintain order and ensure the safety of all individuals involved in the incident.
