Bihar Weather Update
Before the arrival of the monsoon, Bihar continues to experience severe heatwave conditions. On Wednesday, 15 districts in southern Bihar remained under the grip of heatwave, with temperatures staying above normal. In Patna, the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius for the sixth consecutive day. The weather department has issued a red alert for severe heatwave in seven districts, including Patna. Orange alert has been issued for 13 districts, indicating a likelihood of intense heatwave in the state within the next 24 hours.
Districts Affected by Heatwave
According to the weather department’s forecast, red alert for severe heatwave has been issued for Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Kaimur, Rohtas, and Arwal. Orange alert has been issued for Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Siwan, and Vaishali districts. Various districts in eastern and western Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Shivhar, Samastipur, and parts of southeastern Bihar are likely to experience hot and humid weather.
No Relief in Sight for Patna
Residents of Patna and other parts of the state are facing extreme heat during the day and warm nights. A change in weather conditions is expected in the next three days, leading to a decrease in temperatures. The temperature in Patna and surrounding areas has crossed 41 degrees Celsius, with the sixth day in Patna recording temperatures above 40 degrees. Aurangabad in Bihar recorded the highest temperature at 44.9 degrees Celsius.
Increase in Health Issues due to Heatwave
Between the scorching heat and intense sunlight, people in Chhapra are struggling to carry out their daily activities. The temperature reached 43 degrees Celsius by 8 am on Wednesday, with strong sunlight throughout the day. The impact of humidity has also increased, leading to heatstroke cases. Hospitals are seeing a rise in patients affected by the heat, with long queues at registration counters. The number of patients with heat-related illnesses is increasing, with children also requiring treatment in pediatric wards.
