Monsoon Update in India

The monsoon season has arrived early in states like Kerala, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, while North India is still waiting for the monsoon to arrive. The scorching heat in North India, including Delhi-NCR, UP, and Bihar, has people eagerly waiting for the arrival of monsoon clouds. However, the wait for monsoon seems to be shorter this year, with many states expected to receive rainfall this month.

IMD’s Weather Forecast

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Jharkhand until June 16, with Delhi experiencing similar conditions until June 18. The delayed arrival of monsoon has led to continued hot weather in Bihar, UP, and other parts of North India. The IMD predicts that monsoon rains may cover Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and parts of West Bengal in the next three to four days.

Monsoon Arrival in Different States

While Maharashtra has already experienced early monsoon showers, North and Central India are still awaiting the arrival of monsoon. Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall on Sunday, causing waterlogging in several areas. The IMD forecasts that monsoon may reach Delhi and other parts of North India by the end of the month, providing relief from the scorching heat. Meanwhile, West Bengal and Jharkhand are expected to receive widespread rainfall by June 18.
