Five-day Terracotta Exhibition and Workshop in Siwan
A five-day terracotta exhibition and workshop have been organized in Siwan. On the second day of the workshop, artists from different districts of Bihar created terracotta sculptures and jewelry. Artists showcased their ideas through various types of sculptures.
Historical Significance of Terracotta Art in Siwan
Around 50 decades ago, special types of terracotta art were created in Siwan using unique types of clay. This art was not only popular in the country but also exported abroad. It was considered a great means of business. The most famous item from here was the “Mitti ki Surahi”, which has now become just a name.

The display of artworks created during the workshop will take place on June 19. Artists from different districts are creating sculptures based on different concepts, showcasing various emotions. Jewelry made from clay is also being designed, which is not only attractive but also beneficial for the body.
Benefits of Wearing Clay Jewelry
Wearing jewelry made from clay provides the body with various nutrients and elements. The use of clay utensils and clay artwork has been a heritage in Siwan. The elderly in the pottery community claim that their ancestors’ clay artwork was exported to Iran, and even today, one can see clay items in the Patna Museum.
सीवान में पांच दिवसीय टेराकोटा प्रदर्शनी सह कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया है। इस कार्यशाला में बिहार के अलग-अलग जिलों से पहुंचे कलाकारों ने टेराकोटा स्कल्पचर और आभूषण बनाया। बीते करीब 50 दशक पहले सीवान में विशेष प्रकार की कचैट और पियरी मिट्टी से अलग-अलग तरह की कलाकृति बनाई जाती थी। कार्यशाला के दौरान बनाए गए कलाकृतियों की प्रदर्शनी 19 जून को लगेगी। अलग-अलग जिलों के कलाकार अलग-अलग कॉन्सेप्ट पर मूर्तियां बना रहे हैं। आभूषण के रूप में मिट्टी का उपयोग शरीर के लिए फायदेमंद है और इससे विभिन्न पोषक तत्व मिलते हैं।
