Traditional Celebration of Bakrid
Bakrid, the festival that reminds us of sacrifice, was celebrated today in a traditional manner. Apart from over 300 mosques in the district, public places also witnessed prayers being offered. A collective prayer was held at Gandhi Stadium in the district headquarters, where a large number of Muslim community members, from children to elderly, gathered to offer prayers. Security arrangements were strict under the leadership of SDPO Subodh Kumar and SHO Shailendra Kumar. After the prayers were offered at all locations, the process of sacrifice began.
Special Precautions for Bakrid
The district administration has appointed magistrates, police officials, and police forces at 16 locations to ensure safety during the 3-day celebration of Bakrid. Special precautions are being taken at these locations, and the control room is active at 06243-222835. The social media monitoring cell is also active to ensure a smooth celebration of the festival.
Significance of Bakrid
Bakrid, also known as Eid ul-Adha, is celebrated in the Islamic religion as a symbol of sacrifice by Prophet Ibrahim. It is observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Zilhaj. The main purpose of the festival is to awaken the spirit of community service and service to Allah among people. Bakrid also upholds one of the five principles of Islam, which includes honoring the Haj pilgrimage.
Story Behind Bakrid
The story behind Bakrid dates back to Prophet Ibrahim’s dream where he saw himself sacrificing his only son Ismail. This dream was a command from Allah, demanding a sacrifice from both father and son. Ibrahim sought Ismail’s opinion and began preparing for the sacrifice. On the 10th day of Zilhaj, as Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his son, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram. This act of passing the test became the tradition of offering sacrifices during Bakrid.
बकरीद का आज पारंपरिक तरीके से मनाया गया, जिसमें जिले के 300 से अधिक मस्जिदों के साथ सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर भी नमाज अदा की गई। गांधी स्टेडियम में सामूहिक नमाज के साथ सुरक्षा के कड़े बंदोबस्त किए गए थे। इस अवसर पर कुर्बानी की प्रक्रिया शुरू हो गई है, जिसमें जिला प्रशासन ने सतर्कता बरती है। बकरीद का मुख्य उद्देश्य लोगों में जनसेवा और अल्लाह की सेवा के भाव को जगाना है, जिसे इस्लाम के पांच सिद्धांतों में से एक हज भी मान्यता देता है। बकरीद के पर्व का महत्व और मायने को समझाते हुए इस पावन त्योहार को मनाया गया।
