Monsoon Progress Slow due to Prevalence of Western Winds: According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the slow progress of the monsoon can be attributed to the prevalence of western winds. However, it is expected to advance after June 20th, bringing rainfall to regions including Bhagalpur, Eastern Bihar, Kosi, Seemanchal, and Santhal Pargana. The monsoon has already reached Northeast and North Bengal by May 31st.
Relief from Heat Expected due to Eastern Winds: On Monday, the maximum temperature in the district was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius. The humidity level stood at 74%. The nodal officer of the Gramin Krishi Mausam Seva at BAU Sabour, Dr. Sunil Kumar, stated that temperatures are expected to rise between June 18th and 22nd in Bhagalpur district, accompanied by increased humidity.
Possibility of Rainfall on the Horizon: Between June 20th and 22nd, there may be scattered clouds in the sky, with a chance of light to moderate rainfall. During this period, eastern winds will prevail. Farmers are advised to hold off on irrigation in strong winds. Those looking to plant medium-duration rice nurseries can proceed during this time.
