Reviving the Tradition of Reading in Libraries
Efforts are being made by the Panchayati Raj Department to revive the tradition of reading books in libraries. It has been decided that a library will be set up in a room in all the Gram Panchayat offices. These libraries will feature books by famous authors, poets, and literary figures from across the country. The Additional Secretary of the department has instructed the District Panchayat officials to construct these libraries and purchase books.
Diverse Collection and Subscription
Apart from books by renowned authors, these libraries will also offer newspapers, magazines related to women empowerment, child development, rural development, and other useful publications. An annual budget of up to Rs. 2 lakhs will be allocated for books in each Gram Panchayat. A list of books for competitive exams will be sent later by the department.
Library Setup and Membership
Physical and digital libraries will be operated at the Gram Panchayat level. A minimum space of 300 square feet will be required for the library. Each library will have at least two computers, a printer, a scanner, and internet connectivity for digital learning. Membership to the library will be free, with a security deposit of Rs. 100 for borrowing up to three books at a time for a maximum of 15 days.
Notable Books in the Libraries
The libraries will house a variety of books by renowned authors such as Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Munshi Premchand, Bhikhari Thakur, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and others. These books cover a wide range of genres and topics, providing enriching reading material for the members.
भागलपुर में पुस्तकालय में बैठकर पुस्तकें पढ़ने की परंपरा को जागृत करने की प्रयास शुरू हुई है। पंचायत राज विभाग द्वारा निर्णय लिया गया है कि सभी ग्राम पंचायत कार्यालयों में पुस्तकालय बनाया जाएगा। यहां प्रसिद्ध लेखकों की पुस्तकों के साथ-साथ महिला सशक्तिकरण, बाल विकास और ग्रामीण विकास से संबंधित मासिक पत्रिकाएं भी उपलब्ध रहेंगी। इसके साथ हर पुस्तकालय में कंप्यूटर, प्रिंटर और स्कैनर जैसी उपकरण भी होंगे।
