Ward 25 Receives 5 Dustbins

In Ward number 25 of the city, the Municipal Corporation has provided five dustbins, even though there are 19 lanes and three main roads in this ward. The situation is similar to putting a grain of cumin in a camel’s mouth, as described by Councilor Govind Banerjee. He raised this issue with the cleanliness in-charge Aditya Jayaswal on Tuesday, but did not receive a satisfactory response.

Need for More Dustbins

When the ward in-charge was asked by the Municipal Corporation to provide a list of the 19 lanes and three main roads, along with the requirement of around 55 dustbins, it did not hold much significance for the health department. The current scenario is such that if a dustbin is placed in one lane, residents of other lanes question why they do not have one.

Addressing the Issue

Councilor Banerjee expressed his concerns about how they will convince residents that only five dustbins have been provided. He suggested that the dustbins should be placed where they are most needed, one by one. Separate dustbins will be provided on the main roads. However, placing dustbins on the main roads may not be beneficial as people may misuse them for dumping garbage on the streets.
