Accident in Purnia
An accident occurred in Purnia where a car collided with a bike, resulting in the death of a couple riding the bike. The couple, who were returning home from a doctor’s appointment, were able to regain their balance after the collision with the car, but were then hit by a bus from behind. Local residents gathered at the scene after the accident and informed the relatives of the victims. The injured were taken to a private hospital where unfortunately, both of them passed away during treatment.
Identification of the Couple
The couple who lost their lives in the accident were identified as Sadanand Mehta (58) and his wife Manimala Devi (52) from the Sauraha village in the Champaran Thana area. They leave behind a son and three daughters. The incident took place near the Gokulpur Chowk in the Nagar Thana area. After the accident, a crowd gathered at the scene, but both the bus and the driver fled.

The nephew of the deceased, Dilip Kumar, mentioned that Sadanand Mehta and Manimala Devi were on their way back home after visiting a doctor’s clinic in the Line Bazaar area of Purnia. As they were returning home, a car approaching from the front near the Gokulpur Chowk collided with their bike, followed by a hit from a bus. The impact caused the bike to crash, and both the car and bus drivers fled the scene after the accident.
Police Investigation
The police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them to the JMCH Purnia for postmortem. The authorities are investigating the incident to identify the car and bus drivers who fled the scene after the collision. The tragic accident has left the family and the local community in shock, as they mourn the loss of Sadanand Mehta and Manimala Devi.
