Smart Meter Installation in Banka District
The installation of smart meters in vacant places in Banka district is progressing rapidly. With 1,91,000 active consumers in Banka division, more than 31,000 smart meters have already been installed. The electricity company is now offering a profit scheme for consumers with smart meters. Under this scheme, consumers with a balance of up to Rs. 2000 in their recharge account, in addition to the amount of electricity consumption, will receive interest from the company. Consumers will receive interest up to 7.25%.
Smart Meter Installation by Genus Power Limited
In Banka, smart meters are being installed by Genus Power Limited. Officials have mentioned that to receive the interest amount, consumers with smart meters need to maintain a balance of Rs. 2000 in their recharge account. Interest up to 7.25% will be provided. Those in urban areas getting new connections are being provided with smart meters. The work of replacing smart meters in urban areas will also start soon.
Interest Rates for Smart Meter Consumers
Electricity companies will provide interest to smart meter consumers in three categories. If a consumer maintains a balance of Rs. 2000 in their account for the first three months, they will receive 6.75% interest. For maintaining the balance for six months, they will receive 7% interest, and for more than six months, they will receive up to 7.25% interest. This interest amount will be added to the consumers’ balance.
Crackdown on Electricity Theft
Despite the installation of smart meters, some people are still not deterred from electricity theft. Continuous action is being taken against such consumers. During raids, cases of bypassing smart meters for electricity theft have been uncovered. Action is being taken against such consumers to prevent electricity theft.
बांका जिले में स्मार्ट मीटर लगाने का काम तेजी से चल रहा है और बिजली कंपनी ने स्मार्ट मीटर वाले उपभोक्ताओं के लिए मुनाफा योजना भी शुरू की है। इस योजना के अंतर्गत उपभोक्ताओं को अगर उनके स्मार्ट मीटर के रिचार्ज खाते में बिजली खपत की राशि के अलावा दो हजार रुपए तक बैलेंस रहता है तो उन्हें 7.25% तक का ब्याज दिया जाएगा। इसके अलावा, स्मार्ट मीटर उपभोक्ताओं को तीन श्रेणियों में ब्याज दिया जाएगा और बिजली चोरी करने वाले उपभोक्ताओं के खिलाफ कार्रवाई भी की जा रही है।
