Tree falls on State Highway 77 in Katihar

After a storm and heavy rain on Thursday night in Katihar, a massive peepal tree fell near the cooperative warehouse of Bhanga Panchayat on State Highway 77. The locals informed the forest department about the incident, but no action was taken by them. Frustrated by this, the locals and social workers took matters into their own hands and started removing the huge peepal tree from the middle of the road, initiating the clearance process.

Traffic disrupted for over 5 hours

As the clearance process began, the traffic on State Highway 77 was disrupted for over 5 hours, causing long queues of vehicles. The forest department mentioned that heavy rain and storms have been ongoing in the district since Thursday, leading to the fall of the massive peepal tree. A team was sent to the site on Friday, and with the help of locals, the clearance process was initiated by cutting and removing the tree from the road, causing delays for heavy vehicles and several cars.

Collaborative effort to clear the road

Despite the lack of action from the forest department, the collaborative effort of the locals and social workers in Katihar led to the successful removal of the fallen peepal tree from State Highway 77. The initiative to clear the road was taken after the tree fell due to the storm on Thursday night, causing inconvenience to commuters. With the combined efforts of the community, the road was eventually cleared, allowing traffic to resume smoothly.
