Increased Water Level in Muhane River Causes Flooding in Bodh Gaya

In Basari Panchayat of Bodh Gaya block in Gaya district, the water level in the Muhane River has increased, leading to flooding in the villages of Batsapur and Chach, Ghongharia, and Moratal. As a result, the affected residents have been shifted to nearby schools. It is concerning that the Muhane River flows from Jharkhand and the recent heavy rainfall in the neighboring state has caused the water level to rise.

Efforts to Address the Flooding Situation

The District Magistrate, Dr. Tyagarajan, has instructed the Rural Works Department to repair the damaged road leading to Basari village within 24 hours. Additionally, measures are being taken to provide relief to those affected by the flooding, with a focus on protecting people stranded in the floodwaters.

Relief Measures and Future Plans

Efforts are being made to assess the situation and provide protection to those affected by the flooding. The Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department has been directed to explore ways to control the water flow and prevent further damage. Rescue operations have been carried out to evacuate people stranded in Goghariya and Manjhi Tola, shifting them to safer locations with necessary facilities.

Appeal for Support and Assistance

Local authorities and representatives are urging for the construction of embankments along the Muhane River to prevent water from entering the villages. Compensation for crop damage and assistance for those whose homes have been affected are also being demanded to help the affected communities recover from the impact of the flooding.
