Heavy Rainfall in Bhagalpur
The continuous rainfall in Bhagalpur for the past 2 days has led to the swelling of the Ganga river. The water level has increased by 15 cm in just 2 days, with water entering the lower areas of the district. Several Ganga ghats, including Sultanaganj, are now just 2 centimeters below the danger mark.
Monitoring by District Administration
As a precautionary measure, the district administration team is continuously monitoring the situation. The northern flow of the Ganga in Sultanaganj is also swelling. With the ongoing Shravani Mela at the Ganga banks, the district administration has increased barricading to ensure the safety of the devotees.
Security Measures for Pilgrims
The district administration is closely monitoring the rising water levels in the Ganga and has arranged for boats at the ghats for the safety of pilgrims. Devotees from various states and countries travel to Sultanaganj to offer water to Lord Bholenath. The Flood Control Division is on alert due to the increasing water levels.
Precautions for Devotees
As the water level rises, barricades are being raised to ensure that devotees can perform their rituals safely. Mesh barriers have been installed for added security, and monitoring of devotees bathing in the river is being conducted from boats. Instructions are also given for bathing in shallow water to prevent any mishaps.
