Grand Decoration of Baba with 11 Quintals of Wheat

On the third Monday of the auspicious month of Sawan, a grand decoration was done for Baba at the Garibnath Temple in Devghar, Northern Bihar. Baba was adorned with 11 quintals of wheat, fruits, and flowers. The local priests bathed Baba with milk, curd, sugar, and ghee before performing a grand Aarti with the devotees, filling the entire temple with chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’.

Elaborate Adornment with Wheat

On the third Monday, Baba was adorned with 11 quintals of wheat and 2.5 quintals of various fruits. The sight of Baba’s elaborate decoration left the devotees spellbound, leading to chants of ‘Jai Bhole’, ‘Bol Bam’, and ‘Har Har Mahadev’ during the grand Aarti ceremony. The purpose of such grand decoration is to ensure that there is never a shortage of offerings for the worship of the divine.

Significance of the Ritual

The head priest explained that every Monday of the Sawan month witnesses a unique decoration for Baba. The first Monday saw a floral decoration, followed by rice decoration on the second Monday. The purpose behind adorning Baba with wheat on the third Monday is to ensure that no one in the world ever faces a shortage of food. The fourth Monday will see a decoration with betel leaves.

Transformation of Baba and Rituals

Previously known as Baba Baidyanath, the deity is now worshipped as Baba Garibnath. The transformation involves different items used for decoration each Monday, with a symbolic significance attached to each offering. The devotees who are unable to visit Amarnath can witness Baba in this form, offering their prayers and devotion during the sacred month of Sawan.

उत्तर बिहार के देवघर में स्थित गरीबनाथ मंदिर में पवित्र सावन माह की तीसरी सोमवारी पर बाबा का अद्भुत श्रृंगार हुआ। इस दौरान 11 क्विंटल गेहूं, फल और फूल से बाबा को सजाया गया, जिसे देखकर भक्त मंत्र-मुक्त हो गए। मंदिर के पुजारी ने महा आरती की और भक्तों ने एक सुर में बाबा की आरती गाई। इसके बाद बाबा का चांदी का मुकुट मंगाया गया है और प्रत्येक सोमवार को बाबा का महा श्रृंगार होता है, जिसमें विभिन्न अन्न सामग्री से बाबा को सजाया जाता है।
