Bihar Police is adding 30 new trained dogs to their squad, increasing their total count to 97.


Recently, Bihar Police made an exciting announcement about their dog squad. They will soon add 30 specially trained dogs to boost their capabilities. This information was shared by ADG Parasnath during a press conference at Sardar Patel Bhavan in Patna.

The new dogs are currently receiving training at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy in Hyderabad. After their training, they will join the existing fleet of 67 dogs, bringing the total up to 97. By the end of this year, the police expect to have even more dogs in their squad.

In addition to these 30 dogs, the police are also in the process of purchasing 50 more dogs from Home Guard Training Institutes in Punjab. This will further increase their dog squad to 147. All procurement work is expected to be finished in two to three months.

Currently, the dog squad is made up of different breeds, with 55 Labradors, 2 Golden Retrievers, 6 Belgian Malinois, and 4 German Shepherds. These dogs are stationed at various police range headquarters and play a crucial role in detecting explosives, drugs, and illegal liquor.

With the increasing use of trained dogs, especially in catching illegal liquor, the police are actively working to enhance their dog squad. This effort reflects their commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region.
