This article talks about the progress Bihar has made under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, focusing on road construction and connectivity improvements.
In Patna, JD (U) Media Panelist Dr. Madhurendu Pandey shared updates on Bihar’s developments under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership. He highlighted how the double engine government has helped the state move away from backwardness and achieve good governance.
Dr. Pandey recalled the conditions before 2005, when Bihar faced poor roads and chaotic infrastructure. Since then, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has worked hard to transform Bihar. He made a promise that travel time to Patna would be reduced to a maximum of six hours from any corner of the state, and this goal has been met.
Today, thanks to improved road networks, people can travel to Patna from anywhere in Bihar in just 5 to 6 hours. By 2027, the plan is to further reduce this time to just 3.5 hours. This progress allows better access to education, health, and job opportunities for rural residents.
Over 11,000 new roads and more than 700 small bridges have been constructed in rural areas, significantly improving connectivity. Recent efforts have also begun on building 704 new bridges, making it easier for villagers to reach cities and markets.
Bihar has been recognized for its improved infrastructure, ranking first in the Good Governance Index for 2020-21. The enhanced road networks have attracted investments, benefitting farmers, businesses, and the tourism sector, shifting Bihar’s image from a “sick state” to a “growth engine.”
