Patna is gearing up for the launch of its Metro Project. On Tuesday, Janak Kumar Garg, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, conducted an inspection of important facilities like the Metro Depot and Rolling Stock. He checked the three metro stations to ensure everything meets safety and operational standards.
During the inspection, the metro train was tested at a speed of 40 km/h. Janak Garg stressed that public safety is the top priority, and strict adherence to safety regulations is necessary before starting operations. He mentioned that careful planning and execution are crucial at every stage of the project.
The metro service will begin on a 3.6 km stretch from Pataliputra bus terminal to Bhootnath station. This route includes three elevated stations: ISBT, Giromile, and Bhootnath. Once operational, the metro will run from 8 am to 10 pm, and the entire journey will take around 20 minutes.
The metro coaches will showcase local art, like Madhubani paintings, reflecting Bihar’s culture. Each three-coach train can carry about 900 passengers. Currently, travel between the bus terminal and Bhootnath takes about 25 to 30 minutes, but with the new signal system, it will be reduced to just 10 to 15 minutes.
The final inspection by CMRS will continue today, and the inauguration date will be confirmed after the report is complete. If any issues are found, they will need to be fixed before the official launch, which is expected to happen on September 29.
