Looking specifically at September, around 13 crore rupees were collected in fines, with only about 30 percent of this amount paid by offenders. Overall, fines totaling around 115 to 120 crore rupees have been issued, but many remain unpaid.
One of the major problems is that people often do not take traffic rules seriously. The traffic police send reminders via SMS and registered posts to those who have outstanding fines, yet many still do not pay them.
Key statistics show that fines for not wearing helmets alone account for nearly 46 crore rupees. Other violations such as wrong-side driving and overspeeding have also resulted in significant fines. The Traffic SP urges citizens to follow the rules, emphasizing that the goal is to enhance road safety and reduce accidents.
