Today, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation for 242 development schemes in Katihar district. This event took place at the Plus to Dharampur Gandhi High School campus in Narhiya Panchayat, and it was done remotely. The total investment for these schemes is around Rs 583 crore.
Out of these, 224 schemes were officially launched with an investment of Rs 73.59 crore, while 18 new schemes received foundation stones at a cost of Rs 332.53 crore. Some major projects include tourist facilities at Baba Gorakhnath Dham Temple and improvements in the railway infrastructure.
The developments will have a significant impact on the local community. For instance, the monthly payments for farmer advisors and cooks have been increased, which will provide better financial support. Additionally, home guards will now receive a higher daily allowance, and more electricity units will be provided free to domestic consumers.
Furthermore, various honorariums have been raised, benefiting sanitation observers, rural housing assistants, and Anganwadi workers. These changes aim to improve the livelihoods of many families and support women’s empowerment through specific government schemes.
