This article provides updates on the Patna Metro project, including trial runs, safety checks, and upcoming services.
Big news for Patna! On Monday, the Patna Metro Rail Project made significant progress. The Metro Rail Safety Commissioner, Janak Kumar Garg, and his team conducted trial runs on a 4.50 km elevated track at a speed of 40 km/h. They inspected important stations like Pataliputra bus terminal, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath to ensure everything is up to standard.
During the inspections, which took place from 10 AM to 5 PM, the team checked on maintenance and technical aspects at the Bairia depot. Earlier, the CMRS team had pointed out 22 issues that needed attention. This time, they reviewed how these problems have been addressed and will send a report in three to four days. The opening date for the metro is expected to be set soon, possibly in the first week of October.
The Patna Metro is designed to improve public transport in the city significantly. It will consist of three bogies that can carry a total of 138 passengers. Each bogie is equipped with 360° CCTV cameras, emergency buttons, and a mic for direct communication with the driver during emergencies. This means that passengers will feel much safer while traveling.
The first phase of the metro will cover a 4.50 km stretch connecting Pataliputra bus terminal, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath stations. By November or December, there are plans to extend services to Khemanichak and Malahi Pakri stations. This initiative will provide a modern public transport option for the people of Patna.
Looking ahead, the CMRS team will finalize their report shortly. Once the reports come in, the authorities will decide on the inauguration date. This metro service is set to bring a big change in how residents commute around the city.
