What’s inside:
Bihar is facing heavy rainfall alert with several districts affected by flooding and infrastructure damage.
Bihar’s weather is quite unsettled right now. The Meteorological Center in Patna has issued a heavy rain alert for 32 districts, with a red alert specifically for some areas in Supaul, Araria, and Madhubani. Meanwhile, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Purnia, and Saharsa have an orange alert, and Katihar, Khagaria, Samastipur, and Darbhanga are under a yellow alert.
Since morning, many districts like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gopalganj have been experiencing continuous rain. In Patna, part of the Mithapur flyover has collapsed, and in Gopalganj, rainwater has flooded a hospital. Additionally, railway tracks in areas like Saran and Muzaffarpur are submerged, disrupting train services.
The heavy rains have caused severe flooding in Rohtas district. In Pratapgarh Mohalla, around 20 houses have collapsed, leading to injuries. In a Dalit colony nearby, 15 houses have also broken down, leaving locals in fear. Train operations are delayed due to waterlogged tracks around Sasaram and Dehri.
In Chhapra, electricity has been cut for safety reasons. Also, trees have fallen near Ekma station, blocking the rail for six hours. Many roads are flooded with water reaching knee-deep, creating difficulties for people trying to travel.
The Meteorological Department warns of more rain with thunder and strong winds expected in several districts over the next few hours. Citizens are advised to stay indoors unless necessary, and disaster management teams are on standby to assist in affected areas.
