Recently, the Bhojpur district officials have been active in stopping illegal liquor sales ahead of the assembly elections. Under the guidance of District Officer Tanay Sultania, the prohibition department is conducting ongoing checks and raids across the district.
In one significant operation, Assistant Commissioner Rajneesh received a tip-off about a car carrying a large quantity of foreign liquor heading to Patna. A team led by Inspector Prakash Chandra was formed to investigate further and they found success during a vehicle check near Kayamnagar over bridge.
During the inspection, a Hyundai Creta was stopped and discovered to be loaded with illegal liquor. In total, they seized over 300 bottles of various brands, including Royal Stage Whisky and Blender’s Pride Whisky. The arrested individuals were identified as Rajesh Kumar and Amar Chaudhary, and they have been taken to court.
Another vehicle, a Celery car, was also found carrying illegal liquor near DAV school. The driver, Mrityunjay Singh, was arrested as well, with the vehicle containing multiple bottles of PM Special Whisky and Kingfisher Strong Beer. The total liquor seized from both vehicles is valued at around 5 lakhs.
With the ongoing efforts of the raiding team, which includes police personnel and home guards, a total of 310 liters of illegal liquor has been confiscated. The authorities are tightening measures to curb illegal liquor transport from other states into Bihar.
