This article talks about the heavy rains in Bihar causing floods and damage to crops, along with weather forecasts for the coming days.
Bihar has been facing heavy rains recently, causing a lot of trouble for people and farmers. Many farmers have lost their crops due to the downpour. The Meteorological Department has now issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms in 23 districts, warning of more rain in the next two days.
The continuous rain, driven by the Hathiya Nakshatra, has led to a flood-like situation in many areas. Rivers are overflowing, and this has resulted in significant damage to kharif crops like potatoes, paddy, and vegetables. Fields are flooded, and crops are starting to rot, which is worrying for the farmers.
In Supaul district, six blocks are under water, affecting about 5,000 homes. The floods have also impacted over one lakh people in Madhubani, and areas like Raxaul and Ramgarhwa are facing similar situations due to rising water levels from Nepal.
According to reports, Bihar received 929% more rainfall than usual over the past two days. While the normal rainfall is about 10 mm, the average recorded was around 92.9 mm. Even though there was no rain on Monday, 24 districts are still at risk of more rainfall.
The weather is expected to remain active until October 8, with light rains and thunderstorms. After that, the weather will clear up and become dry starting from October 9, bringing a slight chill in the mornings and evenings as winter approaches.
