Many migrants from Delhi are struggling to get home to Bihar for festivals due to limited transport options and high fares.

Many people from Bihar living in Delhi are getting ready to go back home for Diwali and Chhath festivals. However, this time, the journey is becoming quite difficult.

There are not enough train seats, and flights are very expensive. To tackle the heavy rush, the Railways has introduced special trains, and airlines are adding more flights. Despite this, it’s still hard to find tickets.

In fact, the prices for flights have shot up. For example, a ticket from Delhi to Patna has gone up to ₹31,818, while fares from other cities like Mumbai and Chennai are also very high. Many travelers are finding that seats are sold out online.

The Railways plans to run over 100 special trains during this festive season, making around 4000 trips. Yet, many trains are already fully booked, with no sleeper, AC, or general class seats available.

As a result, most travelers are left with the option of taking buses or private cars. But this will come with long travel times, traffic jams, and rising costs, making the journey home a real challenge.

Summary:

  • Migrants from Delhi to Bihar face tough travel conditions.

  • Special trains and additional flights are being arranged.

  • Flight fares have tripled, making travel costly.

  • Over 100 special trains are planned, but many are fully booked.

  • Buses and private vehicles are the main alternatives for travel.
