Train Accident Averted at Bhagalpur’s Pirpainti Station, Prompt Response Ensures Passenger Safety and Restores Rail Services

On Sunday evening, a big train accident was avoided at Pirpainti railway station in Bhagalpur. Just 50 meters from platform number 2, two wheels of a goods train bogie came off the tracks. This train was carrying ballast from Mirza Chowki to Kahalgaon when it derailed near an overbridge, making a loud noise and startling everyone around.

As soon as the incident happened, passengers and local people alerted the railway authorities. The railway’s technical team reached the spot quickly and started their work to manage the situation. Rail services on this route were temporarily affected, leading to delays in other trains as well. The local administration stepped in to ensure passenger safety, while the team inspected the damaged track thoroughly.

After about two hours of effort, the technical team managed to put the derailed wheel back on the track. Once the work was done, they declared the track safe, and normal train operations began again. However, senior railway officials did not provide clear reasons for the derailment. Initial reports have been sent to Malda Headquarters, which has started a departmental inquiry into the incident.

Local residents are raising concerns about railway maintenance. They believe that lack of regular inspections could lead to such accidents. Many feel that if it had been a passenger train instead of a goods train, the results could have been much worse. Efforts to contact the station manager for comments were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.
