What’s inside:

Villagers in Pandhar, Sheikhpura, are boycotting the Anganwadi center after a voting dispute during elections.

In a village called Pandhar, located in Sheikhpura’s Hussainabad Panchayat, there’s been a lot of tension recently. The villagers decided not to vote during the first phase of elections because of a bad road. After some talks with the authorities, voting happened on November 6, but now they are upset about the Anganwadi center.

The villagers are unhappy because the maids and assistants of the Anganwadi center voted during the elections, while the rest of the village boycotted it. One of the maids’ husbands even acted as a polling agent, which angered the villagers. They feel that if the whole village was boycotting, those associated with the Anganwadi should have done the same.

As a result, the villagers decided not to send their young children to the Anganwadi center. Although some kids attended the day after voting, that soon changed. Now, both the maid and assistant are present at the center every day, but no children show up. They have tried reaching out to the villagers, but the response is clear: they will only send their kids when everyone else does.

The villagers’ anger goes beyond just the Anganwadi issue. They are frustrated that leaders do not visit their village during elections. Out of 17 people who voted in the first phase, most were from the Anganwadi staff and their families. This has led to more dissatisfaction among the villagers.

Things escalated on voting day when there was a confrontation between the maid’s husband and some villagers. They believe he disrupted their unity by voting. Because of this, they decided collectively not to send their children to Anganwadi anymore. The situation in the village is getting tense, and local officials seem unaware of the ongoing issues.
