This article discusses the recent cabinet reshuffle in Bihar, highlighting the distribution of key departments between JDU and BJP.

In Bihar, there has been a fresh update regarding the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. On Friday, the important departments were distributed among the ruling alliance partners, JDU and BJP. This time, the BJP has gained control of the Home Department, which is a significant change, now managed by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.

JDU is holding onto key economic departments such as finance and energy. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken charge of several portfolios including General Administration and Elections. Senior minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav has been assigned five departments, while others like Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Sunil Kumar have also received important responsibilities, including education and water resources.

The BJP, with 14 ministers including two Deputy Chief Ministers, has been given major departments like Home, Health, and Roads. This division shows that BJP’s role in the government is becoming more prominent. Samrat Chaudhary will lead the Home Department, while Vijay Kumar Sinha oversees Revenue and Land Reforms, among other duties.

Despite having a significant number of ministers, BJP’s departments have a smaller budget share compared to JDU. BJP controls about 29% of the total budget, while JDU holds around 65%. This highlights the financial dominance of JDU in the state government.

In addition, Deepak Prakash from LJP is managing the Panchayati Raj Department, which has a budget significantly larger than that of other departments. This indicates a clear financial strategy by the government in managing resources across different portfolios.

Summary:

  • Cabinet departments in Bihar have been reshuffled between JDU and BJP.

  • BJP has gained control of the Home Department for the first time.

  • JDU retains key economic portfolios like finance and energy.

  • Despite more ministers, BJP’s budget share is lower than JDU’s.

  • Deepak Prakash oversees a large budget in the Panchayati Raj Department.
