A tragic road accident occurred on Tuesday around 11:00 am in Sheikhpura, resulting in the deaths of at least six people. The accident took place on the Sheikhpura-Jamui main road, specifically between the villages of Eksaribigha and Maniyanda.
The collision involved a CNG auto rickshaw filled with passengers and a speeding truck. Four individuals died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital. Currently, three of the injured are in critical condition and receiving treatment at a higher medical center in Pawapuri.
Following the accident, local residents quickly helped transport the injured to Sadar Hospital in Sheikhpura. The impact of the crash was so severe that the auto was wedged into the truck, leading to serious injuries for the passengers.
Angry locals blocked the road after the accident, demanding action. Police, including the SDPO and Circle Inspector, arrived to manage the situation and eventually cleared the road for traffic. The deceased’s bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations.
The victims have been identified, including a mother-son duo and several others from nearby villages. The accident is believed to have been caused by the overloading of passengers in the auto, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on busy roads.
