This article discusses the Lalu family’s need to vacate their long-time residence in Bihar due to a government decision.

The Lalu family is facing a big change as they have to leave their home at 10 Circular Road in Bihar. This house has been their official residence since Rabri Devi, Lalu Prasad’s wife, became the Chief Minister in 2005. Even after she left the chief minister’s post, Rabri was allowed to stay there because of her political role as the leader of the opposition.

Recently, the Building Construction Department issued a notice asking Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow. She has been given a new residence at 39 Hardinge Road, which is bigger and meant for her current position. Now, she has to move out of 10 Circular Road without any legal options to fight this decision.

Rabri Devi’s situation is complicated by a 2019 ruling from the Patna High Court. This ruling removed special privileges for former chief ministers, stating they cannot demand large bungalows like 10 Circular Road. This change came about after Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu’s son, lost a legal case regarding a similar issue.

The 2019 decision affects not just Rabri Devi but other former chief ministers as well. Although she was able to stay at 10 Circular Road earlier due to her political position, the new allocation means she has little chance of keeping the bungalow any longer.

The situation has sparked political debates, with some claiming that the government is trying to harass the Lalu family. The RJD party has raised questions about the reasons for this change and demands an explanation from the government regarding the need to evict them from their long-time address.

Summary:

  • The Lalu family must vacate their home at 10 Circular Road in Bihar.

  • Rabri Devi has been assigned a new residence due to her political role.

  • A 2019 High Court ruling limits former chief ministers’ housing rights.

  • The ruling affects multiple former chief ministers in Bihar.

  • Political discussions are ongoing regarding the government’s motives for this decision.
