What’s inside:

A fire extinguisher exploded on the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, causing panic among passengers but no injuries.

On Monday, there was a scary moment on the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express train, which was traveling from Darbhanga to New Delhi. An AC coach, M-1, experienced panic when a fire extinguisher exploded near the toilet, creating a loud noise and spreading chemical all around.

This incident took place close to Sihor station on the Muzaffarpur-Samastipur rail line. Despite the explosion, the train continued its journey without stopping. The coach attendant and other staff quickly informed the Muzaffarpur junction about what happened.

Once the train reached Muzaffarpur station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and engineers checked the affected coach. They also conducted another inspection at Hajipur station. Thankfully, there were no injuries to any passengers, although a serious accident was narrowly avoided.

The explosion raised concerns about the safety measures in place and the maintenance of safety equipment on trains. It’s the responsibility of the coaching depot to check these fire extinguishers regularly, but lack of timely inspections has resulted in their poor condition.

In response to this incident, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Samastipur has ordered an immediate check of all fire extinguishers installed on trains and railway properties to ensure safety from future incidents.

Summary:

  • A fire extinguisher exploded on a train, causing panic.

  • The train continued its journey, and authorities were informed quickly.

  • There were no injuries reported among the passengers.

  • Concerns over safety equipment maintenance have been raised.

  • Immediate inspections of fire extinguishers have been ordered.
